... a bright red. Caught a bus to a place where one of the kings had built a Russian village to keep his choir of Russian singers and stop them returning to Russia. Houses are built in an old rural Russian style, with large gardens around them so they could grow their own food and sell excess. ... to Potsdamerplatz, to be precise. This is another lager area that is now developed but was largely in "No-Mans-Land" only 25 yrs ago.

We sat at a cafe and drank in the idea that we were sitting in East Berlin where so much cruel and brutal modern history had been seen. And now it's iPhones, hip kaffee bars, trendy shops and BMW's and Mercedes buzzing by. What a shift.

Enjoyed breakfast with Dave. Compared stories from yesterday's activities. Plotted out the day. Cleaned up, mapped my route & off I go. Visited Prenzlauer Berg - a neighborhood in northeast Berlin. It's quiet here. It's described as a working class district with refurbished buildings, cobblestone streets with leafy, laid-back squares.
