For the first time ever today we managed to get up, organised and on the road quicker than we had planned. We had hoped to be on the way to Berlin by 10am and we were out of the campsite with 5 minutes to spare. Enjoyed breakfast with Dave. Compared stories from yesterday's activities. Plotted out the day. Cleaned up, mapped my route & off I go. Visited Prenzlauer Berg - a neighborhood in northeast Berlin. It's quiet here. It's described as a working class district with refurbished buildings, cobblestone streets with leafy, laid-back squares. ... and the overall impact it had on not just Germany but Europe as a whole from the years 1933 - 1945. Certainly not for the faint hearted as some of the photos of the persecution of Jews and the suicide of Heinrich Himmler are quite graphic. I was astounded that they went to the extremes of public humiliation of people who were deemed Jews and shaving the heads of women who had "relations" with foreign labourers.
