Known as Brandenburg on der Havel (Havel being the river Havel), I could see why both my Mother and Uncle had such a love for the water and country. In fact, an eye opener was how my father grew up in a city and was clearly a city boy, and my mother grew up in a rural water setting and loved that atmosphere her entire life.

Tuesday 30th September Kev's birthday so he is in command today. It was grey and drizzly so decided to postpone the river cruise till tomorrow and hope for a better day. Caught the metro north and walked to museum Island. Visited the Pergamon Museum where the classical antiquities collection is. The final day! Another 31km and supposedly 7.5hrs of walking and we would reach the North Sea and have 190 miles or 309 km between us and the Irish Sea at St Bee's.
