... lunch and then the four of us went into the city.  I just love Leeuwarden.  We walked around for awhile and then went on a little boat through the canals.  I learned quite a lot about the history of Leeuwarden that no doubt I had learned at school but seeing that, that is a long time ago I had forgotten quite a lot.  Before we got back we saw Christien&#8217;s sister in law Alie on her bike, camera in hand taking photo ...

Terschelling West etc.  Had some lunch(typically dutch "warm sandwiches" at the seaside of course and then walked around looking at everything.  At 6pm we arrived back home after a long and emotional day and cooked dinner.  We had potatoes with raw witlof just like mum used to make and a piece of steak.  Yum, Yum.  The weather is still fine not cold now we will see what tomorrow brings."

The trip was for Alice to help Pieti buy a new washing machine so we took the opportunity to have a look around<br><br> A trip of about 15km from Lekkum took us to Dokkum which is a dutch fortified town in the municipality of Dongeradeel in the province of Friesland. ... we finally got to Burdaard, we saw the little canal through the middle of town, waved to the webcam on the Burdaard website, and found a little place to eat dinner. While we were at dinner Mom asked the waitress if there would be a place she could get Auke Kingma's book (he wrote about the history of the houses in Burdaard), and one was just a man at home. Eindelijk gaat het gebeuren, het Pieterpad. Al jaren hebben wij het erover gehad en nu er mooi weer is gaan we op weg. We starten in Pieterburen. Door velen ons aangeraden om de Noord-Zuid route te doen. Vrijdag gaan wij van start, natuurlijk met Bambi en zaterdag lopen wij de eerste route van Pieterburen naar Winsum. 10 kilometer om lekker in te komen. Op zondag lopen wij van Winsum naar Groningen. ... It was actually interesting for the first 1/3 of the trip. But the last 2/3's were really long. After taking the tour I decided that the Netherlands is the Iowa of Europe. Which means it was flat, lots of corn, and lots of cows. After the tour we had a BBQ at the university. After the BBQ I just headed back to my place of residence and went to bed.

An amazing time with great people. This is where we spent most of our time while in the Netherlands. The shopping was great. Rode bikes everywhere. Went to cafes and smoked the ganj. Walked across the ocean for three hours. Laid out in the gorgeous weather and went to the beach. Spent the last night in Amsterdam on park benches with rental bikes and cheap wine!
