... spooky because there weren't alot of people around but it was nice and relaxing. It was also +35 outside with no clouds...so we were very drained by the time we got home. We cooked dinner (chicken, steam veggies, and potatoes yum yum) and then had some wine with the hostel workers and headed out for a night on the town. It had been bombed when the Germans held it, then bombed by the Germans when the allied forces re-took it. You would not believe that Rotterdam was part of a country and Europe in recession; there are cranes on the skyline and new buildings going up for all to see. Very impressive bridges and we understand new Tunnels underneath 1 they have a tram network on the roads and the fastest River Buses and Taxi's that you ...

... neared the outer harbour breakwaters.

We were safely alongside by midnight and work started almost immediately. I took to my bed. It is tiring watching people work!

(The helicopter delivery and collection service used by Zeebrugge pilots was suspended as we left because it was still too windy for them to operate. This left us with a ‘spare’ Belgian pilot who had guided us out of the port and was now enjoying a free ...
