From Roswell we drive to Carlsbad Caverns. The caverns are on the Unesco world heritage list, so we decide to pay them a visit. Located 250 meters under ground are loads of stalagmites, stalactites, draperies, soda straws and popcorn. Soda straws being the tiny ones hanging from the ceiling . In Europe we call them Spaghetti. Popcorn are located on the ground. The cavern is beautiful, but we saw an even more beautiful cavern in Slovenia last year, so were a little spoilt. ...
... and then we got her up for cake and presents. Mama was so happy to see Addy's excitement over the minion cake I made her! Once again, so many wonderful and thoughtful presents! A big thanks to Cousin Bennet for helping Addy open her gifts!
She may be too young to remember all this, but hopefully all of these pictures will be fun to look at later! Thanks so much to everyone for being a part of Addy's first birthday at home!!
Caught the flight at 2:10 PM for Dallas. We got on the plane and found two people sitting in our seats. We thought they double booked us. It turns out one guy was sitting in our seat in the aisle to talk to his buddy across the aisle and the girl beside him was sitting in the wrong row. Karen and ...
... also fit a familiar mold of many of our friends along our travels - they love animals - and have 3 dogs and 2 cats, all rescues. Mary and I were particularly enamored with Jill, a smaller dog of unknown origin, who was blind and yet negotiated 2 flights of stairs with no problem. (which strangely enough reminded me of some of our friends from Trav's.)
