      Ten Days to Texas

      On this long, challenging bicycle journey, I am currently 120 miles, or 3 days west of Kansas. There I will turn south for another 2 or 3 days to knock off Oklahoma and Arkansas on my way to Texarkana at the Texas state line.

      Just writing those words seems a bit surreal, but it's been like that for the entire trip. In reality, I now have over 5300 tough miles behind me ...

      ... which run parallel to Route 66. At one point we were at a crossroads and had to stop to let a train go by. We counted the main train engine part, followed by 110 trailers, most of which had 2 stacked containers. We had never seen such a long train.

      We later decided to stop for a loo / drink / loo again break. We went to Cafe USA, it was a proper american diner. We were served by Colleen, our very bubbly waitress. ...

      ... letters saying DON'T SHOPLIFT!! Hilarious! We carried on and had a couple of **** breaks. After one of these pitt stops, Mark pulled out onto the wrong aide of the road. What was funny is that I panicked and said, "Mark, Mark, MARK WRONG SIDE" it was only after he saw an oncoming car coming towards us at speed that he realised!
