... badgered me for money, I grabbed a pop-tart out of my emergency snacks and ran back to where the dog was laying. When I approached, however, it jumped up and when I tried throwing a chunk of poptart its way, it fled. In trying to help I only disturbed his sleeping. Time to call day one OVER. I still have several hours tomorrow morning to explore Memphis, but I am already over this place. If I check off a few sites tomorrow there will be no reason to ever come back.

Dallas - Memphis Today we head towards the home of the Blues! We had a stop in Texarkana, the town on the border of Texas and Arkansas (and Louisiana before the boundaries were moved). We crossed the Mississippi river as we headed into Tennessee and our stop for 2 nights, Memphis. Many members of the touring group also visited Graceland, the home of Elvis Presley, where he often lived, where he died on August 16, 1977, and where he is buried. As tokens of the visit, one choir member wore an Elvis mask to sound check that afternoon, and administrative manager Barry Anderson wore a brightly colored Elvis t-shirt over his dress shirt and tie.
