Today, Friday, we had another great drive. We left Austin, Nevada by nine AM and had only about a hundred and fifty miles to travel. We moved lower and lower until now we're at about 4,400 above sea level. It's about seventy degrees here and feels great. ... in a routine of climbing a mountain pass a day (usually 2-4k ft of elevation gain) and then dropping down into a valley on the other side. It is quite spectacular as nearly every pass has at least one alpine lake near its summit. These lakes dump out into the next valley in a torrent of beautiful water falls and gushing rivers feeding more lakes. This is a water wonderland. Alas the mosquitoes are thick and any amount of time lingering is paid in blood.

The combination of no new snow and Yang not feeling well meant no skiing for us today. Instead, we headed to Truckee, a small town just north of Lake Tahoe, on the recommendation of the concierge. It was about a 50 minutes drive, slightly pass Northstar ski resort.
