          ... They adopted one of the pups, took it to a vet to start the series of required vaccinations, and continued on their way. It's a good thing Florence and Ginger weren't around when that happened because once we saw the one they had, we would sure have been tempted! Fortunately even if we had been there and been tempted, our three dogs would have had the majority when we put it to a vote.

          In a third dazzling display of organisational prowess, I emailed a potential host in California a few days before I left, and they said yes, so I flew out to San Francisco on Saturday morning.
