The road wasn't great so I continued my slugfest pushing. Some points had compacted soil enough that I could ride in the dirt shoulder. Every now and then I'd hit a patch of sand and sink. ... This time, it was impossible to open, with the handle just flapping and doing nothing. I tried everything I could think of, for literally hours. I was at a disadvantage as my tools were in that compartment. Finally I drove a kitchen knife between the door and the inside plate and it opened. I then traded that lock for one that is hardly ever used, after tightening it all up. It was a pain but all working again.
Leaving tomorrow. Should make it to Iowa.
