The road wasn't great so I continued my slugfest pushing. Some points had compacted soil enough that I could ride in the dirt shoulder. Every now and then I'd hit a patch of sand and sink. No pictures taken today. Just a long day of riding. I made this entry once but it says it did not take, so if this is a repeat, I apologize. Had a breakfast with Don in Scottsbluff and had a goal of getting out of NE today. Was able to do so and am on US route #36 in MO. The same #36, I believe, that goes ...

... This time, it was impossible to open, with the handle just flapping and doing nothing. I tried everything I could think of, for literally hours. I was at a disadvantage as my tools were in that compartment. Finally I drove a kitchen knife between the door and the inside plate and it opened. I then traded that lock for one that is hardly ever used, after tightening it all up. It was a pain but all working again.

Leaving tomorrow. Should make it to Iowa.
