... front was pretty with a grassy area and palm trees on the beach side and a large wetlands area with lakes and lagoons on the inland side. The lake had lots of birds, we could see pelican, smew, small brown ducks ,heron, storks, american coots and what we think was cormorants swimming under the water, fishing, it's incredible how long they can stay under the water for, we followed them with the binoculars for ages and they never seemed to surface. After a lot of discussion we have decided to catch the ferry from Igoumenitsa , When we get to the port we will ask which ferries to Italy allow dogs in the cabins, some only allow them in kennels on the deck. The first stop was at the Mercouri winery. This is a family run farm with a 150 year history. They produce wine and olive oil and offer a guided tour and tasting session. This was so popular, nobody alighted at this stop. Everyone seemed eager to move on to the final stop before returning to Katakolon…a beach!!! Agios Andreas beach. Surprisingly everyone exited the train ...

... day we went exploring the next town Moraitiki and hired ourselves some sunbeds for the morning. 6 Euros thankyou very much! The water here is unbelievable, a sublime temperature, crystal clear and calm as a forest lake. We started our daily ritual of a few laps up and down the coast, if it was like this at home I would swim every day! I had forgotten
how the Europeans like to let it all hang out, the beach was full of some
      mammals on ...
