It doesn't feel real, but I am finally back in Turku, a city that I will always be special for me. In the Rigan airport, I got really happy when I heard conversations in Finnish again. The airplane was a very small propeller plane, and there were barely even 20 people going to Turku.
Turku was so beautiful from the air. We flew over Helsinki, and I could easily see the large cathedral from the window. The rest was beautiful and in the twilight, because it never gets dark here ...

He first took us to the Ittala store so I could buy a Finnish designed (although made in Thailand) serving bowl as a momento of our trip. Then Pekka headed off and Colin and I stopped into the Turku Cathedral and walked through some of Turku on our way to the castle.

Our ship arrived and I was really pleased with our slightly cramped, but comfortable accommodations for the overnight voyage to Finland. We had a four berth cabin and luckily only three of us to share it. Our third cabin mate was a portly Tibetan monk who was adorned in the traditional robe ...
