Yesterday we woke up really early to catch the train to our next family member. Luckily the train station was just up the road so it meant that we were able to leave 15 minutes before it arrived. The train we caught was a scenic train which took us all through the mountains and as high as 2,500 meters above sea level. The views were so incredible! Day 282 2 hrs, 5 kms Dalais is another peaceful little village, built partly in the valley floor, and partly up the grassy slopes. I get off the trail for a bit to make it easier to walk from town to town. I find, a bit to my amusement, that drivers seem utterly baffled when seeing a pedestrian by the road. Even when there's a very wide shoulder and plenty of room for them to drive ...
... s a whole network of trails up the mountainside, some catering to farmers who grow grass on the higher slopes, others cater to hikers. The higher I go, the better view I get of the valley, cliffs, forests, high mountain peaks, stretching on to the east and the west.
Finally I reach the trail that goes up to the base of the falls. I figure there's no point in hauling my backpack up, since I'm coming back the same way. And nobody steals anything here in the Alps... right?... ...
... Sure enough, the valley just divided in two, and I'm supposed to take the right valley. Glad I caught that! I could've hiked the whole day up the wrong valley. Back to the correct valley, I find a little village that hasn't quite woken up ...
