... sun shines and of course I will have brought all the wrong clothes! As I said, within 15 minutes we were whisked off for tea, then a walk to the local supermarket and a coffee in their favourite cafe, then a walk down to the beach, then back to their place for a meal - pork in tomato sauce with mushrooms and lots of veg. - and wine and port! All very pleasant. And ...
... from the train station so we were greeted and taken to the hostel Friday afternoon! Once we were settled in, we decided to hit the beach! Little did we know, the weather here in Portugal is pretty bipolar.. And we ended up running away from a pretty big rainstorm and returning to the hostel fairly early that evening! We made ourselves some supper, visited with some people around the hostel and had a pretty early bedtime! We got such an ...
Well the time changed! Lagos is an hour closer to Canada so it switched to six hours instead of seven hours, which really confused two girls at 4 in the morning! At first we thought our train was an hour early so we got our backpack on and waited for the next stop, than got told by the worker on the train that we had another hour. We than thought we had the time change figured out and that the train was an hour late so we ran to our next train, than got told we had to wait ...
... of monkfish. All of this swimming in a delicious tomato-based sauce. the rice absorbed the sauce, and each bite was heaven on earth. Best meal of the holiday? Definitely! Best meal ever? Maybe! Definitely in the top 10, and that is a lot of meals. We had a bottle of Portuguese green wine to accompany our cataplana, which we are growing to love. After a pleasant walk back to the hotel, we caught the singer's last set with a coffee & brandy (Portuguese brandy of ...
... Then called it an early night. This morning 7 us us met in the lobby, then hiked to the local Gypsy market, which is held every second Tuesday. What a zoo! After buying some figs and underwear, we gave our women some cash and us men went to the outdoor cafe for espresso and churros. A few hours later, 10 of us now, we hoofed it to the firehall for lunch. I had blue shark and boiled potatoes (see photo) and a lovely baked apple for dessert. Carafs of white and red wine ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Valmangude Jardim Aparthotel Albufeira
Just back from Valmangude Apartments, Albufeira. Arrived looking forward to a bit of peace and relaxation - not a hope. Arrived 10 pm at night to be placed in the apartment right next to the bar and entertainment area. The noise was unbelievable, so much so on some occasions that the light fittings were rattling in the room. There was no escape as even the sitting area was level with the bar so you heard everything being ordered and clinking glasses. You arrive looking to de-stress and the opposite happens. Couldn't be moved for 5 days and when that did happen - it was much better. Sound proofing is needed though in this establishment, even people walking barefoot in the next door apartment sounded like they were in your room. In the first apartment there was also cockroaches aplenty! I would pity a family being put in that apartment - it should only be rented out to young partygoers who would no doubt be up "The Strip" until the small hours of the night and wouldn't even have realised there was a problem.

"Best Girls holiday ever"
I just wana say Albuferia is beautiful and it was the best girs holiday i've been on. The apartments were very big and clean and were situated in a good place, as they were near the strip and the old town. Visit the old town to eat as there's more variety of restaurants such as italians, chinese and steak houses. In our hotel the bar staff Armando, Carlos and Jose are great very friendly and entertaining. Also i wana say that are rep Danny is brilliant, He was kind and very helpful. (Kristy, Sarah and Joanna).
had a wkd time...staff were friendly ... especialy coctail bar staff! would deff go again!

When you read the brochure and arrive at the apartments then you will think, looks nice. The rooms are a good size and the pool and snack bar are fine.
Best holiday ever.
This was the best holiday i've ever had i met loads of friends including gaz, kat, matt, chris, tom and christy and loads of others.
It was great the day time activites were good fun (thanks lell and simon btw its shaun here.) I just hope the next holiday is just as good.
i just wanted to say that the holiday i had at this hotel could not be beaten. i went last year and despite it being excellent before, this year it was better. i think this was mainly down to the entertainment duo this year as last years werent as lively. their names were simon and lell (by the way if lell or simon reads this, its gaz) there was always something going on and they hepled everyone enjoy their holiday even more. anyone going there before december will be lucky to have them around the place. they made the holiday what it was! thanks guys!
I went to this hotel a few weeks ago it was very entertaining especially the entertainment crew who ran throughout the day. There was one entertainer in particular who was very helpful her name was Lell, if your reading this its Keith and Jonny the SILEBY BOYZ. This hotel was the best not only for the entertainment crew, lell in particular but it was lively and well set-up so if you get a chance to go then take it with both hands!! Keith n Jonny SILEBY
My friend and our 2 children stayed at this Hotel last year. I found the staff very helpful and friendly. The pools were great. Also the food available at the Pool Bar was varied. The rooms were comfortable, maybe could have been slightly larger. The only downside was that we were next door to Tanya's Bar which wasn't a problem at night because we werent in, in the morning though they were clearing up and moving tables and chairs which was very noisey if you were trying to have a lie in. The hotel was at a great location just far enough away from The Strip so that you weren't kept up with people coming home from the discos and pubs later on.
