Scenery in Garden City UT and area

We spent a week in Garden City UT. Kinda cold, so we mostly stayed inside and did some necessary taxes and bill pays and other administrative work. But we did take a few walks and have a picnic lunch (in the car) a couple of days at the lake. On our way to the next destination (Panora IA). Looking forward to visiting the Timms!

Other than that, I saw a car manufacturing plant in Flint with the most smoke stacks ever, I had my first crossing of the mighty Mississippi River (maybe at its most narrow point at Le Clair, IL), saw loads of farms in Iowa, drove my first two hours of the trip, and witnessed Bob master the new iExit app on my phone to find the best hotel here in the lovely Des Moines, Iowa. Oh yeah, and finished at +3 ...

We had agonized over the weather reports (-25 wind chills with near blizzard wind gusts on Valentine's Day) and decided to wait it out until Sunday. Well, here we were. It was time to go.

With -5 registering on the thermometer, we dressed in boots, hats, mittens ...

... Omaha, right into Iowa at Council Bluffs (the location of Chicago's Amerind tribes .) Here I sized up the situation. It was getting dark but I had some time left in me. We stopped for food and drove through the Iowa darkness. Andrew was sleeping and let out a cry because his arm or foot fell asleep. I decided that was a good cue to stop driving for the night. We were in West Des Moines and managed to find a decently priced hotel in a land of motels and cubicle ...
