... br> We bought a bottle opener and I got myself a pair of very patriotic stars-and-stripes knee high socks for the occasion then we kept wandering.
From the edge of the pier it was a very clear view over to Alcatraz Island and we could see across to the Golden Gate Bridge as well, which was covered in a thick fog that was rolling in towards the city.

We all ventured out at about 8:00 am to start our day, picking up a take away a coffee on the way to Union Square. There happened to be a big fun run on in town and there were people everywhere dressed up in a variety of outfits, quite entertaining really. We head to the cable cars but there was a bit of a queue and it was a bit pricey - too expensive to stand in a line.

On to AZ. We stayed in Flagstaff which is a very nice area. There is a great downtown area for shopping and meals. The Grand Canyon..........it is humbling to view this spectacular wonder! We spent an entire day walking the Southern Rim. I couldn't stop taking pictures. It felt emotional at points. This is a wonderful place to sit quietly & reflect. ...

Usually you have to search for a laundromat - San Francisco has one on practically every corner (rather than a Starbucks like most USA cities). This past week I had a bladder/UTI infection. Quest labs gave my doctor the incorrect fax number twice which delayed my getting onto antibiotic before it becoming very painful. Then the night before we were scheduled to leave I lost two fillings in my front teeth. Next day being Friday....most dentists were closed ...
