Moving has never been so easy- throw your stuff in the back of a pick-up truck and get driven up the road, less than a mile, and dropped off right in front of your new house; piece of cake! We might just have to take this house sitting show around the world if it's always that easy! The house is so much more than just a house...it's on a golf course for cryin' out loud! AND we have a garbage disposal (an anomaly for backpackers), washer/dryer, dishwasher, oven...not to mention a pretty specta...
Boquete, Panama jeridolpTook the 45 minute flight from Panama City to David and then a 45 taxi to Boquete. The town itself is ok, but the surrounding area is stunning. Rolling hills in numerous shades of green create a valley with a town surrounded by mountains in nearly all directions. When I asked about the Ruiz coffee fields tour I was told that it was leaving in 30 minutes... and that I was the only one who would be going. So my tour ended up being a private one. Carlos was an amazing guide who has worked in the...
Boquete, Panama travelbee... on Saturday to deliver a bunch of medicine to a local clinic. It sounds very exciting and I'm sure whatever actually ends of happening, it will be an adventure!
Rebecca and I walked into town today to attempt to return the movie and arrived to the main street just in time to watch a mini-parade go by. It was a procession of about 15 to 20 cars each carrying a group of students- most of them hanging out of the windows! Some of the cars had girls ...
Hola! Sorry to keep you all waiting for our next entry for such a long time- we didn't realize it had been 5 days! What's that saying?- time flies when you're having fun? Well, it couldn't be more true with us here in Boquete. It's almost as if we've discovered this secret spot where people who come here feel sorry for those who will never get to experience it, but at the same time don't want to share their discovery of Boquete for fear of exploitation. It's a town ...
(info in www.panamasecreto.com)
... taking us somewhere (it was too well maintained) but...where, and, most importantly, when??? The forest and the views where anyhow still amazing, and the rain made it even more beautiful. But unfortunately we were not in the mood to enjoy it. Suddenly, the forest ended (yujuuu) and we came outside in a valley, from where we were able to see the mountains, and therefore to orientate ourselves. We were exactly where we were supposed to be, but after having made a ...
Boquete, Panama ncirauqu... also had dinner at the Italian restaurant down the street from my parent's house called El Pianista. We were the only ones in the riverside restaurant and the chef came to the kitchen from watching TV in his living room. We at a feast of focaccia bread with prosciutto, extra fresh mixed salads, a caprese salad, squid stuffed with shrimp, baked zucchini, meat ravioli and pasta with bacon and mushrooms. For our last full day in Boquete, mom, dad and I woke up early ...
Boquete, Panama lekili... as well. They actually pulled all the suitcases off the bus for inspection. They didn't even glance at my bag when I walked across 3 years ago. The crossing took about an hour but in the end I learned it could've been worse. Another traveler at the hostel (also on Tica bus) said it took 3 hours to get across! In the end I arrived at Bambu Hostel at about 11:30 at night! I was exhausted and wired at the same ...
David, Panama margreet98... for me! I had a little crazy attack before we started and got a little bit hysterical, so one of the guys who works there said he'd do the whole thing with me, I felt much better to be strapped to a nice man for the duration of the ziplining, hurrah! After Granada, we left to go to Isla Ometepe, which is the worlds largest freshwater island. The landscape was right out of Jurrassic Park! Dirt roads, luscious green fields, cloud forests and two huge and active volcanos ...
Boquete, Panama barkmecca... even more storm damage, huge trees taken down. Needing a break to be a ¨tourist¨, I spent most of today doing the Tree Trek. Sarah, I´m sure you know what this is. You only go around once in life, so grab all the tree limbs you can. I was awarded a Certificado de Cumplimiento en reconocimiento por mi valor al participar y completar las 14 estaciones y 13 cables en el Boquete Canopy Tour (despues de mucho meido). Happy Valentines Day, everyone. Luv luv!
