Nauplia, a treat!

... is named for the relief of the two confronted lions covering the triangle above the lintel. The size and construction are an amazing technical feat for the period.

We continued our walk to the Palace, with its monumental staircase, central courtyard and the megaron, the focus of the public life of the king. The megaron overlooks the valley. The palace, set on the top of the hill, has a strategic view of all directions. We then returned to Nauplia ...

The ferry was great, we managed to talk the ticket guy into giving us an open deck ticket, which meant we could spend the 13 hours in the van which was good news. We even got a reasonable night sleep which was good, albeit to the drone of the motors. A good shower though, the first in a few days!
