... about 135-140°. A cold day made for a nice soak in the springs. There were red spider mites, but weren't too bad unless you leaned against the edges of the pool.

The ford of the river was freezing (particularly so on the way back, near dusk). We saw a porcupine in the snowy road on the way back towards the highway to Lowman.
Motel seems to be changing for the worse.......

... 3 nights) with a tiny little balcony, drink and food stains were around the walls, no iron and ironing board like there use to be, enough coffee, sugar, and creamer for only one person each night. Most of all unable to sleep due to the rude people over and around us that walked heavily on the floors until 1:00 a.m. (even during the week nights) left ...

Sharona's Wedding

A beautiful setting for a beautiful wedding.... Sharon Dew, youngest & wildest of the Dew clan, is finally tying the knot & saying I do. It was great to see family, and it's never enough time. If Greg doesn't get on it, this might have to suffice as a mini-family reunion...
Of Porcupines and Friends

... the hills so, a great view of any storm that may come our way. We set up camp in our typical way - we got Sully set up in his area with water and some shade; popped the top on the van and opened the canvas windows to let some air flow through; got some water and a book and headed to our mini-pop-up screened in porch for a little reading and water time. After about 90 minutes or so, the dark clouds pushed in with some serious lightning! It was ...

Crossing the Border

... of people were on the road leading to a large line up at the border crossing. This did give us sometime to jump out in pairs and check out the duty free shop on the side of the road. After just over an hour wait we crossed the border and headed into in the USA. We then proceeded to Sandpoint (2hr drive) and had a bit of a walk around the town before looking for somewhere to stay the night. After checking out about 4 hotels we realised this small town music ...

The Cabinet Mountains

... pennants of Denmark, Norway and Sweden - allusions to the town's Scandinavian heritage - while, above the Town Commissioner's Office, the shadowy figure adorning an MIA/POW flag pleaded for release from his communist dungeon, thirty years after the fall of Saigon. As I wandered around town after dining at a fast food joint I couldn't help but notice that it was election time. A profusion of placards - placed on the verge at strategic junctions or staked into the lawns of ...

Dinking Around the Edges of the Wallowas

... two of us, we figured we'd get more for our $$ with some other exploring. We did less of that then we thought we'd do, but $40 did more than buy a nice lunch with good beer later in the day. It turned out to be a sightseeing day, with some time for TS (remember that's Tubi ********) to retrieve an inordinate number of sticks from the lake, checking out the areas around town, strolling Main Street checking out shops and the ...

Out of the Cascades and back into ...Oregon...

... for small rigs, but we managed again to get ourselves into a nice site in a bit of a meadow. Hurricane Creek, like every other creek in the area, was a raging snowmelt torrent, so much so we did not approach it, or let Rubi get too close. But this was a great setting, deep in a canyon with a view up toward the Matterhorn (the highest peak in the range according to our map) , and we had it to ourselves. The rushing waters helped make for a good night's sleep.
