... an Ikea-like route through the town, when all of a sudden we were all stunned by the sight in front of us. Visible through the crack of the windy road was a massive, exceptionally colorful cathedral. Kristi likened it to seeing the Treasury in Petra for the first time. As we came into the square in front of the cathedral, we came to see just how enormous the fašade of the church was. We all knew that we immediately needed to park and check this out, and ...

It is situated on a hill overlooking Orvieto to one side and the beautiful Umbrian hills and valleys to the other. We walked among the vineyards and enjoyed seeing the signs of spring along the road.

The rest of the congregation ensued and as the crowd parted, the procession walked down the center of the street with the band tailing behind.

It was a really neat to be there to see the pomp and circumstance of the celebration. We asked someone later and discovered that it was San Giuseppe Day. ...

... and then drop off providing amazing views of the surrounding hills when you peek through the narrow streets.

We stopped for lunch at il Grottino and met Victoria's friend who owns the restaurant with his sweet wife. We really enjoyed their homemade Italian food…it was one of the most scrumptious meals we tasted so far on our journey! We got a glimpse ...
