There was a sign pointing to immigration and customs but to me it looked more like the way out than in because you went downstairs. I followed the flood of people though hoping I wouldn't have to go through security again. The signs on the next floor included references to gates, so I was much more comfortable going through. ... at Slobbie (shaved ice with red beans), which was infused with spiced mageekoli. I was officially hooked. No wonder it's such a popular dessert among the Koreans (although Koreans rarely eat dessert). It can be found at any cafe, even at McDonald's, which I would later discover. The cool thing about Slobbie was that they grew there own herbs, fruits and veggies on their outside patio. Also, they make a point of hiring single moms...very cool.

... good (at least I thought so) films - "Mandela" and "American Hustle" interrupted only by a very tasty lunch of lamb in Date Sauce with spinach and some sort of Arabic rice.

Unfortunately it just got dark when we arrived in Abu Dhabi after the 7 hour flight. The Airport terminal was surprisingly compact and not as show-offy architectural wise as I expected it to be (although it had plenty of Hermes and Rolex shops and the like). I walked around for a while and ...

It is a full on day today, from Myeongdong to Noryangjin fish market, Anguk to Insadong, now ended up in Hongdae. It was getting a bit late mainly because we were after some live music on the street. University students loved to hang out at Hongdae at night, so you would find some young musicians trying to make a few bucks by busking.

We managed to find a musician just playing outside ...

... were a ton of people going in and out of the guarded gates. We also passed through the gates. The guards were so still that I thought they were made of wax until I saw one move. The gate led up to an open dusty courtyard and a ticket booth. Ugh. Maybe if we found the palaces to be more interesting we would have gone in. Instead we just had a peek and left. As we were leaving we learned that we were just in time for the changing of the guards ceremony. It ...
