... was Timisoara which was where the Romanian Revolution of 1989 began. There are reminders of the revolution almost everywhere you go. This is a relatively small city of about 300 or 400 thousand. Maybe I enjoyed it more because of my apprehension coming here after hearing about pick pockets, taxi rip offs, etc, but I found the city and the people to be quite nice.

The train from Brasov to Timisora passes through Sibiu, which is notable since otherwise Sibiu is a bit awkward to reach, so a good tourist route.
