I made it to Lagos yesterday. Its basically a beach/party town. The second place that I walked into turned out to be a really great room for 25 euros a night complete with my first english language tv of the trip. Today I spent part of the day in Sagres, the southwestern most point in europe. Good for pictures and walking really really far. Tomorrow I´m going to attempt to get to Seville.
... or scenery so beautiful. For two hours we sailed the coast of Portugal, sipped Sangria and swam in the ocean! Later that night we went and watched the sunset on the Southern most tip of Portugal, Sagres. After that we headed back to Lagos for dinner and another night of festivities. We had some authentic Portuguese food and then a few of us decided to skip the club scene for the evening and go ...
Lagos, Faro, Portugal aperisee... to snowboard. But, that can change if i make it my second home.
So, i go to Lagos and meet Natalie on the train, she was from seattle. Her and this other canadian from Ottawa were on the train, though, on the way there, i chose the same place to check out as Natalie, so we walked to our respective hostels. Upon getting there, we met two Belguim girls, Delphine and Lorena. Both were from the French speaking part and along with Neel, a guy from ...
... english and German tourists for the 1st 4 days of our stay!), and walking the little streets of the old town - full of white little buildings.
We had a great hostel - one of the cleanest I've ever stayed in with great facilities - 2 kitchens and a roof-top terrace with BBQ, a top manager called Arthur who sounded Russian even though he was Portuguese, and we were lucky enough to have a great group of people staying there with us, so we made lots of new friends to hang out ...
... looking to party on vacation, and northern Europeans (lots of Brits, Swedes, and Danes) who move down - either permanently or temporarily - for the sun. Given that, it has a really chill, surfer type mentality. It was very laid back, both in its nightlife and in its overall atmosphere. Since we didn't get there until 4, we walked down to the beach to check it out, then tanned on the pool by the roof for about an hour before heading inside to shower and ...
Lagos, Algarve, Portugal lar4290... having a great time while we watched from coffee bar overlooking the beach. As the sky darkened into evening we walked along the headland, coming across a modern house right on the head with automatic gates. Surely it must be owned by someone rich and famous! One thing was immediately clear to us about Lagos. There are lots of British people here. All signs are in English, all meals are served with chips and you can catch the various British accents from people ...
Lagos, Portugal guykb... to look at on the water. While we had the car available we took the opportunity to explore the area & get to some D.I.Y. shops for boat stuff. We drove out to Sagres & Cape Vincent to see how they looked from the land, having last sailed round them at 4am in the dark. The cliffs & caves are spectacular. Local fishermen hang off the cliff tops with huge drops to the sea, & seem to get good & varied catches. Now the boat is pretty empty we have started sanding down the ...
Lagos, Portugal chickensafloat... oh yes Tavira, lovely town. After Tavira we took a little daytrip out to Vila Real do Santo Antonio and took a boat trip down the Guardiana River that cuts between the Portugese and Spanish border in the east. That was an alright trip, but I think I was the youngest by about an average of 50 years so I think that says it all. I don´t wanna talk about it;) After that I believe we moved the next day to Portimao. Took a little drive through ...
Lagos, Portugal steph_444... We kept going and the lady served us up "super bock" which is Portugal's local beer. Me and Jarrad lapped it up as the weather is so perfect with the sea breeze in our faces. This is definatly the life. The rock formations of the Algarves were just amazing and it was great we did this as these formations and cave's are very famous due to their rareity. Limestone pillars linned up along the cliff's! They had a little dingie attached to the yacht ...
