Villafranca del Bierzo to Ruitelan - 19.2 kms Well, when staying at the municipal albergues, you can be sure of an early morning. We were at the cafe by 7am as expected, for our eggs on toast, but the owner didn't show, so we wandered down to the town square, had a quick bite and juice,,then on our way. Just as we were leaving town, I managed to roll my ankle. Not too ...

What a difference the weather makes. For the last 10+Km the sun has been out and despite aching feet it's been a pleasant walk. Also it's been good that there have been numerous places to stop at. ... ones when we hardly got any sleep cuz of the snoring at night or the rustling of early morning (5:30am) pilgrims.
All in all a wonderful experience, one we are very thankful for, especially at this thankful time. Hope you are all enjoying your families this weekend.Tonight I had rabbit stew in celebration. Tomorrow is Columbus Day here in Spain, a very big deal, so there should be celebrating as we go along this weekend.
I realize I have not ...

Our walk today took us through a long cold but beautiful mountain pass. There were many trees and verdant fields, winding paths, and lovely mountainscapes. 22.5 km later, we made it to our hotel in Las Herrerias Valcarce by 2:00 and enjoyed time together on their very comfortable patio. Today was our son, Neil's ...
