... with frescoes in various states of repair - as well as one "living church" and home of now six nuns - who maintain the gardens and sell linens. This church has a visiting priest once a week and has some unique brightly painted frescoes. There are also a lot of stray cats there. Besides the churches - all are in ruins except the one tended by the nuns - there are the ruins of the Palace of the Despots. ... meant we HAD to get towards Greece today so the following day was jam-packed. We visited the Greek, then Roman, then Byzantine, then Venetian, then French ruins in Butrint National Park. The complex was a vast and surprisingly a beautifully maintained mish mash of numerous cultures, mainly Roman including amphitheaters, bath houses and a castle. ... and sat by the shower. Kelly found it dead in the morning in the shower and got rid of it. Hover, I am kind of creeped out to use the washroom in the middle of the night now and Kelly stages the washroom by keeping the door closed as we believe they are coming in through the vent to the garage. Anyways, last night I went downstairs and opened the washroom door, turned on the light and a medium sized (very fast) cockroach scurried out of the bathroom towards the kitchen ...

... souvenir spoons from behind the counter and I was thrilled!! The old lady and I did not speak the same language but we both related to the happiness and relief of finding the spoon! I think she was trying to tell me she has spoons from all over and she didn't have a Greece one.. I spoke English back relating to her struggle. I am such a geek but I was happy to have found the spoon.

I haven't wrote about the European toilets yet? It's always a gamble ...
