After brekkie it was onto Menton which is a lovely little town just before the Italian border. Menton is a much more down to earth place than its neighbours and more our scene. We found a park right on the beach and went for a wander and took in sum much needed sun. Next stop Italia!!
Menton, Provence, France darrenhough74... and not campervan parking friendly. We found a picture perfect stop just after Monte Carlo at the top of a hill overlooking the Med. We had the place to ourselves so we russelled up some brekkie in the sun which was lovely, so much so we were in t-shirts!!!
Monte-Carlo, Monaco darrenhough74... seen and spoken to, to date.
Set off mid morning to drive through Gorges du Verdon, again another stunning drive. This time though the weather was kind to us and we were able to get out for a hike after lunch. It seemed like a popular drive as we encountered several other tourists, one couple were eating lunch at the same spot we were. They packed up their picnic, took a swig out of ...
Grasse, Provence, France darrenhough74Cannes is not as glamrous as we thought it would be, it still has all the fancy smancy stores along the beach, but there were definitely no red carpets rolled out when we were there. We did a day trip to St-Tropez, its was the end of a hge sailing competitiona and tons of ...
Cannes, Provence, France sofenjon... the Grimaldi family. And where Prince Rainier and Grace Kelly joined in marriage in St. Nicholas Cathedral. In the square of Monaco-Ville, the Royal Palace could be found. From here, you could see all the districts of Monaco including Fontevielle, La Condamine and Monte-Carlo. Not to mention the breathtaking view of Port Hercules, more commonly known as the Port of Monte-Carlo! Here you could see the ...
Monte-Carlo, Monaco ricknelsie... here and the beach area closes at midnight, but I bet the campers stay here as long as they can. We would if we had a facility in our mini mini.

It is cooling off and the sun is behind clouds so we decide to leave.

We go to the market here and get some wieners for dinner and make us some soup.

I spoke with Joe earlier and he is off to do some emails, says ...
Antibes, Provence, France dancejill... in from behind the gate. After lunch we headed to Monaco where we visited the rock where Prince Albert lives and his two sisters. Did you know that Monaco is a principality and is totally separate from France. It is the second smallest independent country in the world. What's the first? Vatican City! It is under the protection of France in case of war but there is 0% criminality and only one police officer per 40 people. There is also 0% unemployment because at least 50,000 ...
Antibes, Provence, France k1thomas... to let you see what it looks like. So, after we got to the apartment I unpacked everything but my clothes and went looking for a market. I asked the cashier where the milk was (in french!) and she said it was in the back but they were closing so I must hurry. I got nervous and couldn't find the milk so I don't have any for cereal in the morning! Oh well, at least I spoke to someone. Anyways, for the rest of today, I've just been watching french ...
Antibes, Provence, France k1thomasOk, I'll go back and make an entry of this day, my favorite day of our trip to France, with bits of the whole trip haha. We arrived in Nice on Sept 24... After the most dramatic train trip of my life. You'll see all the map pins preceding this entry...well, our train to Milan was 15 minutes late, and we had a 15 minute connection. Over the trip, it became 17 minutes late. We were already slightly in despair ...
Antibes, Provence, France viaggiatore87... me I was winning, as soon as he left I lost two rounds only to try and end the night on a good note. Unfortunately I was determined to win my money back and went on to play on a Blackjack Game which didnt go so well for me. After the casino, we took photos on the hair-pin of the race track, then headed back to the campsite for a couple drinks and called it a night. The next morning we left early for Verona, then to Venice, followed by Florence.
