It's still bloody hot but this is a nice camp, and very quickly neutralised the memories of last night...
After a record quick set-up we threw ourselves into the lake, and have had I think about 8 swims so far. Fresh water, about 26deg, the usual pebble beach and bottom, but ...

We reached our stop for the night, La Maison de Joséphine, by about 1:30pm. Unfortunately it was a 10 minute climb up from Guillestre, one which we repeated sans panniers when we went to search for a restaurant. The first few kilometres meander through a residential area before rising through woodland, revealing impressive views of the valley we had just cycled ...

    Climbing the Col de l'Iseran

Once out of Val D'Isere you start the climb to the Col de l'Iseran. It was a relief to get out of the village and into the open landscape. It's a really beautiful climb along this part of the D902, and the roads are very quiet, just a few Germans on motorbikes and the odd car. We were also passed by about half a dozen Morgans ...
