    ... of interest,.. with a visit to the Ponte Vecchio and it's myriads of 'bling' shops to finish the day. I have to complement both of the Ladies,.. they were very strong and didn't break out the credit cards at all. Another casual meal at the La****ns hotel on Monday night and we both planned our departure from Firenze for Tuesday morning.     ... way down, we found ourselves in the mist of a large flock of sheep, very interesting to pass. Finally we got to our cosy refuge with communal toilets. -- Tali What a day.     ... were running low. Then about 4km from the top the temperature plummeted and the rain continued in ernest. We were shivering so much our bikes were shaking! Thankfully once over the top there was a little cafe where we hid for a while drinking hot chocolate and eating ham and cheese omelettes. We made it safely back to the valley where it was glorious sunshine and we laid everything out to dry. Phew. An exhausting ...

    It's been a wet start and finish to our first wedding anniversary today. Best intentions for an early start we're delayed by heavy rain this morning, but we made the first 50km before lunch in great time and had a big lunch outside the supermarket in Saint Michel de Maurienne. We then climbed Col du Telegraphe and the rain started again just as we arrived into camp in Valoire. We then walked to the start of the Col de L'Izoard. where we waited for the Tour de France to arrive. During the 1.5 hours for the riders to get to our location, the sun came out, then it rained then it was cloudy. But that didn't deter any of the crowds, who lined the streets throughout the city to watch the race go past. ...
