... over the peaks . Markers along the roadside indicated we were now at 2000ft and the alpine forest in the distance had a covering of fresh white snow ..it was a postcard view..

still climbing the mist got thicker and soon the wipers were needed as water droplets turned into rain. it was not long until we noticed the verge was covered in about 3 inches of snow and then as we rose to the summit the snow fell on the windscreen.. windy slippery roads,3000ft up and a 5 tonne ...

Before getting in the subject of vote results, here is a video taken yesterday Tuesday while travelling to where we parked and stayed overnight. The area of the video where it was taken is called Weaverville, a community in the mountains between Eureka and Redding. It illustrates what kind of industry is king here. Of course fly fishing and hunting are tops as well.

... snows was, as you may have surmised, successful. In fact, the weather was very mild with nary a cloud in the sky. What a great day to travel!

... many trucks of plum tomatoes drove by us and even scattered tomatoes along the roadway.

Arrived in Redding about 2:30. Found a wonderful steakhouse near the hotel. Best steak we've had in a long time. Even beats Longhorn, which is George's favorite place if he isn't eating Shaw's sirloin tips.
