    We had dinner about 1.15, watched some movies, got some sleep off and on and crossed the International Dateline somewhere before it was time for breakfast on our second April Fools Day. We got good views flying in over North Los Angeles and the girls couldn't get over how big it was. And we got to see the Hollywood sign in the distance which was cool to see.

The Superliner Carriages that Amtrak run here are double-decker, and after having our Boarding Pass checked by George (our Sleeping Car attendant) we quickly found our bedroom, on the top deck. I had initially anticipated using AirBnB accommodation for my trip but given the costs being asked for in San Francisco and LA, the 2 & 3-star hotels (with a discount...Trivago,, etc) are just as cheap if not cheaper in most instances, particularly if you stay greater than 5 days!
