Decisions, decisions!

... the Japanese, and in general are quite xenophobic. This doesn't bother me too much as I'm quite content to pull the shutters down and remain in my own little world, oblivious, but it's quite telling that while Japan has a surplus of teachers, Korea has a surplus of jobs - not a coincidence. Without question, Japan is a more enjoyable place to live, but Korea has a lot of economical advantages, so what should I do?

Well, after much deliberation ...

Bye Home-stay Family

... afraid about the grammatical errors.  She would not give it to me in person, and had to leave the restaurant to meet her friend.  For some reason, hopefully because she is shy, she left without saying goodbye to me, so I ran down the stairs and found her walking away on the side walk, and asked her for the letter.  She said she would not give it to me now, but that she would put it in my suit case at the apartment.  I made her promise to put it there, because I thought she may ...

Rain, rain go away

Our schedule keeps changing because of the rain.
Today we had much heavier rains. It is monsoon season and while the rain and wind weren't to that level today.
Where my raincoat covered stayed dry but not much else. The rain even soaked through my purse.
It was hard to stand up right because of the wind.
Lots of good lectures and museums the last few days.
More about those tomorrow.
It is 11:30 pm Tuesday now.
Cheers

A Change of Culture

... level and couldn't resist grabbing some stuffs to satisfy our sweet tooths as we passed through. To get to the theme park entrance we also had to pass through the supermarket section, which was a great way to see where some Korean food comes from. An inspection of a foreign supermarket is always an interesting insight into their culture and this Korean example did not fail to disappoint with its vast array of seafood in various states of preparation.

Finally we found the demure ...

... in the corner with a Led Zepplin shirt and....heart-shaped glasses! (Heart-shaped glasses always make me think of that Marylin Manson song..........just me?) Okay, Sarah said she wanted those glasses, so.....I got them for her! We called him over to dance with us, asked him if we could try on his glasses, passed them around, and then they magically "disappeared." We had then tucked into Ashley's back ...

My first norebang!

... And they were still having a great time......so................I sang! And I LOVED it! I sang so hard that my throat started to hurt! At one point, I swear my I lost my voice completely! I absolutely NEEDED a beer to soothe my vocal cords! Really, I needed it! Ha! Oh, yeah...the front desk has a supply of beer for purchase. I had a fantastic time! Also, I am quite confident I sing a better "Livin' La Vida Loca" than Ricky Martin!

A busy life - updates

... at school. The kids had a long break from thier schools so we added a class for them to take in the mornings. I had 4 kids that I taught from 11 to 12:30am, and then began my regulary work day. It was a fun class with a lot of really neat interractive games to play on the computer. I think the kids learned a lot from the program and I always came away from it thinking it was a fun class, but ...

... so that they contain a clear structure, detailed reasons, and are within the time frame. Wednesday Definitely my favourite day of the week, even though I teach three lessons as opposed to one on Tuesdays/Thursdays and two on Mondays/Fridays. This is Presentation Day so each student is expected to do a 10-15 minute presentation on a topic related to the previous week's in class discussion. The topics are very current, and often very interesting, and I have enjoyed watching them ...

Kidnapped, sozzled and yelled at by a monk

... other like heat-seeking missiles, but I don't think this is on purpose, just quirky. I have heard they are even scarier on ski slopes and this does not surprise me. However, if people were rude (like my friends had warned me before I went) I certainly didn't notice it (except for the old ladies, God help you if an old lady decides she wants to be where you are standing because she will bump and nudge until she gets to where she wants to be at the expense of your ribs).

All in all, two big thumbs up!
