Paths, through beautiful spanish countryside, with the occasional off-piste trek making our own paths through the woods. (It was more of on top and in the trees rather than through.) ... the history.

Phil, Sophie and Sue visited the Arab baths built in 1194 and we all then walked along the path that is called St Christopher's Way taking many photos. We all thought the city was very pretty and well worth the visit.

The spanish do speak very quickly but we have been getting by with Sue knowing some Spanish and Phil with his Italian which has similar words.

... in touch with after our time here. Spaniards refer to our year as a parentesis -- a parenthesis. We certainly wrangle grammar on a daily basis (especially the many versions of past tense in Spanish) but the notion of this as a way to describe our experience really resonates with me. We're taking a pause out of our regular story -- to tell a slightly different tale.

We are in Spain! Found a camping site in Barcelona for tonight and tomorrow to celebrate New Year's Eve. Can't wait to shower and do laundry! (After boondocking in parking lots and "Aires" - essentially roadside rest stops - in France for several days, anything with real showers and toilets feels like a palace!)
