17th and 18th August
Today is meet the Rellies Day. It was difficult trying to organise getting the train to the birthday lunch at Bridge of Weir then to Bishopbriggs to see Grandy's aunt Helen and uncle Jimmy so we rented a car for the day. Grandy was very brave and soon found his way to the motorway but we had some trouble finding the restaurant. We only stayed for about an hour as we had promised Jimmy we would be at is place at 3.30pm. ...

... via a tablet that is sitting on the night stand (TV, Lights, Window Coverings...everything) and the room cannot be bigger than 200 sq ft including the bathroom. It really is perfect for what we need, nothing to spare and it kind of forces us to get out and about to explore the city.

After the country-side and relative isolation of Iceland it was quite a change to be in the downtown area of the largest city ...

Update - found a work-around for my pictures with ipad connection kit but uploading here is very slow so will finish up in Inverness Thursday.

Most of the pictures were right around our hotel, The Milennium, on George Square.

... Nevis range freshly covered in snow as we came into Fort William. We popped into the supermarket to get lunch and train snacks (all the supermarkets here do sandwich meal deals - sandwich, drink and chips). We popped into Mc Donald's for some hot chocolates and claimed our free drink with our collector card (we really are turning into budget backpackers!!).
