Just Japan now, off the beaten track, the best way to see it, with a guided and a small group of 11. Starting with Kyoto, an ancient capital off to beautiful towns offering lovely warm baths, even a fish spa! And the water just flows constantly through.

... t finish it since we had lunch at 3pm and had been snacking on chocolate and ice cream on the steam train. No wonder I have put on 1Kg since being in Japan.

I plugged myself onto the iPod with a talking book and pretty much fell asleep after dinner. We arrived at Kagoshima at 8.04pm and made our way to the hotel next door. The room is much smaller than our previous ones but still bigger than the Kawasaki Nikko Hotel.

... to explore the north part of Kyushu (the south island of Japan). These days it is connected to the main island by Shinkansen and tunnel but in the past it was by conventional train and ferry. So there is a very good train museum commemorating this period. I am not whether to pleased or not but we saw a steam engine in immaculate condition the same age as me. I am not in a museum yet.

... 1 hour small loop taking in a good viewing point for the volcano but standing in the line and watching them cram people onto this bus like sardines makes us rethink, plus talking to other people waiting in line who are doing the 2 hour full island loop, we are convinced that this will be a much more comfortable way to go. The bus arrives and it's only about 3/4 full so that's excellent, well worth the extra cost because we have a seat and we will not end up squashed and ...
