Kobe's European houses, sake and a thunder storm

A travel blog entry by jarcher106

... strolled through Nankinmachi Chinatown, impressed by the Kobe beef steamed buns, and continued onto a fair at the waterfront. Unfortunately just as we were starting to explore the heavens opened with a torrential thunder storm, accompanied by a very strong wind which nearly toppled some of the tents. We abandoned the fair and made a dash back to the station, where we took the train to Osaka. In the hotel we managed to do some long overdue washing, ...

... same as in real life. the crowd resembled a sea of little screens which looks pretty in a way and forms a quite nice contrast to the traditional clothing.
Then the hanabi goes on for about 50 minutes and it is filled with little highlight moments with special effects like fireworks shaped like hearts or cats or smiley faces or just a mass of colors and light filling the night sky. ... worse for us. We had a lot of very close calls. There were videos of the fish market we went to on the news and there were trucks being tossed through the alleys were we got our first sushi breakfast. We haven't heard from Masami yet, but hope she is ok too.
I'm not sure what our internet situation is going to be at our next stop, but I'll put up another post as soon as I can once we get out of Japan.
I hope everything gets better here ...
