... all found it quite hilarious - everyone except for Bridget, anyway! It was back to the train station after our interesting lunch, and then on to Osaka. We had heard that Osaka was the Chicago of Japan, so I was especially eager to get there. By the time we arrived, the sun had set and the rain was still falling heavily, but that didn't stop us from heading out into the city to see what the night would bring. We took the subway into the central shopping district downtown, and ...

Kobe, Hyogo, Japan at777What is your image of Kobe Beef? For us, it is the highest quality beef in the world, coming from happy cows that are fed well, massaged each night, and fed beer to help them chill out! Well...wouldn't we all be happy with a massage and beer every night! So we were expecting Kobe city to be a rural paradise, filled with moooing cows and Japanese farmers. Not even close! Kobe is a big shipping city ...
Kobe, Kinki, Japan thomasmbKobe, deemed as an melting pot/weaved rug/fruit salad (whatever we're calling it these days), hosts an International Festival each year in May. The festival last all weekend and this year (the 37th) included things such as a parade, band contests, samba, belly ...
Kobe, Japan brianneinjapan... a compass would have come in handy right there in the middle of the second largest city in Japan? I retraced my steps and asked several people for directions to Yodibashi Camera, including the lady in the information center, who was quickly becoming an old friend. Wandered around the urban maze once more like an experimental rat and eventually found the camera store, which brought me to my next problem...finding my way around the ...
Kobe, Japan andskye... he packed it all back up again. It wasn't over there though, when I came out into the airport I was on my way to the ATM when two plain clothed police men came up to me and gave me the third degree too! What a way to start my trip in Japan. Still they were nice enough about it. I got the train into Osaka and then a metro to the hotel, and yes it is a HOTEL! The metro I very confusing here the ticket machines are a mission all of there own, it's going to take some getting used to! When I ...
Osaka, Japan harvimalhiWell, I found my way to the ferry terminal and made it through customs without having to give up my gaijin card. Those customs officials are so gullible. Ha! So I'm on the boat, staring out at the Kobe harbour and hoping that any minute now, we're going to leave.
Kobe, Japan descoth... Canada in June and Noriko is a little hottie office worker. Now, as teachers, we're not supposed to see students outside of the classroom, but I've never been one for following stupid rules, which is why I'm writing about meeting up with two students after school! But, seriously, our best chance at meeting and becoming friends with Japanese people is through school, so why not take advantage of that? Practically everyone does it anyway...I think it's more one of ...
