... a large swimming lake about a kilometre from the
campsite, and found some shade to relax in. A sign told us the water temperature was 23 degrees, very pleasant. The lake is fantastic with enough space for the hoards that were taking advantage of the weather. It has a huge wooden pirate ship for the kids to jump off and pontoons moored mid lake. We then continued to follow the river before joining a road that headed back to the cars. On the way we passed a a man milling timber logs into planks - it seems that he was a carpenter who built stairs, but he enjoyed milling his own timber. ...

Beautiful One Day, Spectacular the Next

... for lunch. Patrick wasn't sure if the owners would be there, so some people had brought lunch, but those of us who hadn't were in for a treat, feasting on a traditional platter of rye bread, cheese, sausage and bacon. It was delicious, having been made in the hut which was built in the 1600's and had very few modern conveniences (Patrick and Anja even had to help cut it all up). We sat in the sun at a rickety table outside, with the view of the valley. It ...
