Guilin is such a picturesque town on the Li river with lots of tourist attractions, and is the gateway to Yangshou. The prices in the hotel we felt were excessive for food, drinks and simple things like business services. Nonetheless, the room was clean and comfortable and there were lots of nearby options for a good meal. We found The Little Italian Cafe which gave great service, lots of useful information and well priced food and drink - and best of all - fabulous coffee!

Hotel was part of our Wendy Wu tour package. Fine , as with all the hotels hard bed, but clean and comfortable room. Wifi in the lobby, safe in the room, 2 bottles of water each day decent buffet breakfast.

Next was Fubo Hill, with its cave temple at the base of it. The temple I could handle, even with its tiny twisty stairs & corridors, but one look at the hill and I knew I wasn’t going up there. I elected to stay at the base and read (well attempt to read, ended up posing for photos and fending off people trying ...

... amazing view of the surrounding area. Bus A's day finished off with a Tai Chi and Kung Fu lesson. Four students chose to do 'Tai Chi' and the rest chose Kung Fu, it was an exhilarating experience.
Bus B spent their morning enjoying a Li river cruise. The cruise took us along the Li river with multiple stops along the way. The students really enjoyed seeing the beautiful Karst mountains. In the afternoon, Bus B had the opportunity to go to the Shunqiuao ...

... hotel until maybe 2:00 and, by the time I had had a shower, a cup of tea, bought my train ticket back to Jinhua, scouted out various cruise companies and bought my ticket for the cruise tomorrow morning, it was already 5:30 and getting dark.

I wasn’t going to stay in and have done nothing all day but be on a train, so I set off for a nearby botanical garden, which the internet told me was open 24/7 and was free entry, on the basis that, if it ...
