          Disappointing!

Apart from the location I can't say anything positive about this hotel. Carpet in room was dirty with large greasy stains. Air conditioning did not work. Had to open windows to cool room down. Breakfast was so self serve you even had to set the table! Tea bags were not replenished on second day. The 'last straw' was when the wifi on the top three floors failed to work and hotel staff could not care less!! Will be recommending to my tour company to find an alternate hotel in the future.

Guilin is such a picturesque town on the Li river with lots of tourist attractions, and is the gateway to Yangshou. The prices in the hotel we felt were excessive for food, drinks and simple things like business services. Nonetheless, the room was clean and comfortable and there were lots of nearby options for a good meal. We found The Little Italian Cafe which gave great service, lots of useful information and well priced food and drink - and best of all - fabulous coffee!

Hotel was part of our Wendy Wu tour package. Fine , as with all the hotels hard bed, but clean and comfortable room. Wifi in the lobby, safe in the room, 2 bottles of water each day decent buffet breakfast.

Up at 4.30am today for bus pick up at 5.30am to drive to Xi'an airport for 7.40am flight to Guilin. We had a breakfast box to eat along the way and so that we could go straight into touring when we arrived in Guilin. Guilin is a city located on the banks of the Li River and famous for its unique limestone hill landscape. Unfortunately this is our …

Today we ate two breakfasts. One at the worst hotel we have stayed in so far (will be recommending Insider Journeys find an alternate in future - only positive is the location!) and the second at a local food shop next door where we ate what the local eat. Thick rice noodles with a small amount of tasty broth, topped with either vegetables, beef or …

After our river cruise, we headed to an ancient village called Xingping, up river from Yangshuo. Xingping proved to be a great stop, away from the hustle and bustle of Yangshou and perfect for exploring more of the Li river and surrounding scenery. The only setback, a tummy bug for Ryan. Over in 24 hours though, it didn't mar his time too much.

We finally parted ways with Tony and Marigo, and off we headed for the Yunan Province.
