Guilin is such a picturesque town on the Li river with lots of tourist attractions, and is the gateway to Yangshou. The prices in the hotel we felt were excessive for food, drinks and simple things like business services. Nonetheless, the room was clean and comfortable and there were lots of nearby options for a good meal. We found The Little Italian Cafe which gave great service, lots of useful information and well priced food and drink - and best of all - fabulous coffee!

Hotel was part of our Wendy Wu tour package. Fine , as with all the hotels hard bed, but clean and comfortable room. Wifi in the lobby, safe in the room, 2 bottles of water each day decent buffet breakfast.

... to come. Anyhow, we packed up ropes, harness, climbing shoes, water bottles, and chalk bags and picked up Bessie's friend Tingting on our way to the JiuPing shan. I top-roped a 5.8 and 5.9+ (difficulty level equivalent to a beginner's range) but failed to finish the 10a that woopped my ass. Now high on adrenaline rush I felt my body shake. Oh to be young with four hours of sleep from six to ten in the morning, then feeling both arm and legs shaking with intense blood rush ...

... of Guilin. After lunch we did a little shopping before getting the bus back to town. To explain the title of my blog. I have been on many bus journeys and on everyone I feel so sleepy and find myself falling asleep. I can't help it, I don't even feel tired, but it sends me to sleep (I wish it worked on trains!!!) I wake up and turn to Sarah and she confirms that I nodded off. Oh well, sleep where you can. In the evening we had an all you ...

... in, we wandered through town trying to find a good place to eat. We followed a crowd and ended up at a strange type of chinese buffet. We were led around the restaurant by a guide, and she took us to several market style booths where we could point to food and ask what it was. If we wanted to order some, she would write down the name and then place the order. Some of the food was cold because it had been sitting on this counter all morning, ...
