Guilin is such a picturesque town on the Li river with lots of tourist attractions, and is the gateway to Yangshou. The prices in the hotel we felt were excessive for food, drinks and simple things like business services. Nonetheless, the room was clean and comfortable and there were lots of nearby options for a good meal. We found The Little Italian Cafe which gave great service, lots of useful information and well priced food and drink - and best of all - fabulous coffee!

Hotel was part of our Wendy Wu tour package. Fine , as with all the hotels hard bed, but clean and comfortable room. Wifi in the lobby, safe in the room, 2 bottles of water each day decent buffet breakfast.

... sure but kept quiet. The bus turned onto the main street at the end of which was the station, we couldn’t go wrong now! We watched as shops, temples, restaurants and street vendors all skimmed by, waiting for a view of the station. We took a large flyover and then crossed a river, neither of which were on the map. “Don’t worry, It’s not a great map, we’ll be there soon” Dan soothed, but as time wore on his ...

... the pedestrian road with all the buzz of the market stalls. Our restaurant was called the Left Bank but it was on the right! Very nice dcor and our tables were in a glassed section at the front of the shop and we seemed to be sitting in the tree tops, coloured lights and all. After dinner (which included Peking Duck) instead of returning to the hotel we went walking with one of the Sues. We ...

... we will be leaving for Guilin at 10.00. This meant that we would have to fill in thetime until then but would not have enough time to get into Yangshuo. We felt a bit cheated as we were really looking forward to seeing more of this pretty
little town. We wondered why we were not told sooner that we would be leaving so early the following morning.
