... the shopping in Cortina is just fabulous and not a "chain" store to be found. Really worth the drive to this super chic resort.
The one downside is that it is crowded. We are in high season and German school Holiday is going on now. Add to that the fact that the Dolomites have not had this much snow since 1951. Minor complaint and it sounds like things will clear out next week.

The shows in Brixen however did not reflect the niceness of our accommodation. I have never met ruder children!! Oh well - I guess they're teenagers!
We had a trip up to Ploser, approx 2500m high and the views were stunning!
Off to Innsbruck on Thursday where we will be joined by boyfriends, girlfriends and family!! So ...
... through it. There isn't much to do here apart from walk up to the Schloss on top of the hill at one end of town. But luckily, the weather has been kind to us and on Sunday there was blasting sunshine!
We met with a friend, David Taylor, who also works for Vienna's English Theatre and went to dinner with him. His knowledge of Austria is incredible and he has enough anecdotes that could last for days! A very nice evening had by all.
... in the afternoon the next day, we got a cable car halfway up the mountain to have a drink in the sun. It was surprisingly hot up there and we stood without our coats on! We wanted to go on an Alpine Coaster but sadly, it was closed due to heavy snow :( Off to Italy (South Tirol) now!! ...
... br> The road continued but there were signs saying no vehicles and so I parked up and went on a mission. The road went on for quite a few km and even crossed a few rivers. I was so tempted to go back and get my bike and bring it up here and get a few shots of it riding through the river crossings. At the end of the day who's going to say anything to me??
I decided against bringing the bike up here and so simply headed back to the hotel.
