... up and relaxed a bit before grabbing the free Sunday aperitif in the lounge (Spumontee) while the kids journaled and wrote postcards. We then moved to our assigned table in the dining room for dinner-- royal consume (kids and me) and potato dumplings with tomato butter (Michael), salad, cheese and bread, then veal shoulder (grown ups), fish (boys) and eggplant (Madelyn) followed by white chocolate mousse for dessert. ... ride was talking to a lovely, older couple from British Columbia, and finally getting a seat after 30 minutes of standing on this hot train. We arrived in Milan and quickly boarded train number two. We didn't get water as we knew we'd be in first class and would have food service. Lovely first class!! Assigned seats, air conditioned car, food service, delicious coffee (at noon!!!), and fabulous sandwiches. And what were we thinking only getting ONE small bottle ...

Today we had a sleep in and caught up on some washing. We had a wander around this typical ski resort with its shops specialising in sports clothes, ski gear and hiking boots. There are so many people here, taking advantage of the warm sunny weather - some with their families - and hiking, using the chair lifts or bicycling through the passes. ... We weren't the only ones attempting the Pass in the wintry conditions. ... of time and settled in for our 2 x 1 and 1/2 hr train trips. Two things that have amazed us here are 1. The number of vineyards and grapes - they are everywhere!
