Union Bolzano

2 planes - 1 bus - 3 trains - 1 taxi later and we arrive in Bressanone. About 40 hrs of transit was well worth it... this place is adorable - its like walking around in a postcard. Have been snowboarding the past 3 days which was lots of fun - bussed up the mountain to Plose ski fields area... have added some pictures and will caption the pictures if we can.

Kolpinghaus, the student residence I was assigned to, is really close to the University, which is nice. It is catholic-run though, and they actually make you sign on to their rules! This imposition is uncomfortable as it makes it impossible to really feel at home in your room. No visitors from outside the hotel, no one else in the room after ten and a curfew at twelve, among other things. Ridiculous.

... why the name has both an Italian and a German spelling. This is a very quaint town that looks to be fairly old with small winding pedestrian only streets. Street signs are here are written in Italian and German, and a vast amount of people walking around are speaking German. I took some pictures and got myself a quick bite to eat. I have seen a lot of people walking around carrying backpacks with hiking boots and trekking poles ...

... One of the newspaper writers on hand told me that I was the MVP of the game. I didn’t realize he was with the press, but then he pointed to a guy making announcements to the crowd on a mic, and said that he was with the press and they had just named me the MVP of the game. ... we headed west taking a pass from Canazei through to Bolzano. Ouur home for the night is in Tassulo in the south of Valle Di Non. You can see the alps in the distance. The valley is agricultural with thousands of fruit orchards and vineyards. We did a little sight seeing and walked up to the ancient sanctuary of San Romedio. Tomorrow we heaad off west again towards Lake Como. Not sure what we will see there... perhaps the odd celebrity!?

... before we left, 8 Carbineiriofficers walked into the pool right past us to the bar.  Apparently a guy was too drunk and thebar keep cut him off.  The drunkenpatron became upset and the police were called.  Then he tried to resist the Carbineiri and got slammed onthe ground and hand cuffed in front of a large crowd that had gathered.

We grabbed Kebabs then went back to Christina's apartmentand watched "A Guide to Reckognizing Your Saints."  It's one of my favorite movies, and ...
