Gabriel and I get MARRIED!!!

WEDDING WEEK CELEBRATION - Let it begin!

Leading up to our wedding celebration we had a week packed with amazing adventures. Friends and family began arriving on Saturday the 20th and we had a blast. From scuba diving off the Isla reef, to dinner in Playa del Carmen, to Chichen Itza and cenotes on Wednesday, and good old fashioned lounging around at the beautiful Le Meridien pool the week could not have been any better ...

Isla Mujeres - Finally the Caribbean

... from Cancun, giving it more of a touristy feel than I ususally like, but I have to give a huge thumbs up on the beach on the North part of the island. The water wasn't very deep, but the temperature and clarity of the water was amazing. I spent one entire day just wallowing like a big old manatee and loved every minute of it. I rented a bicycle another day and circled the island in about 2 hours. There were more fancy resort like destinations on the ...

... or sea as the hotel zone has completely taken over and blocks the view and secondly, it is extremely touristy and quite expensive! I was quite pleased that we had decided to spend most of our time in Mexico further down the coast - exploring the smaller villages of Playa, Tulum and Akumal and despite having a really lovely day in Cancun, looked forward to discovering the Mexican Carribbean as I had always imagined it.

- Men stranden er offentlig - No Problemos !

... am such an alcoholic) and then it was into the glad rags and out for dinner. My sis arrives safe and sound and I go fetch her from the hotel and then a bunch of us headed off to the Hotel zone of Cancun and into some club with flat fee for entrance and drink for free once you're in. All lots of fun, despite the ****** floorshow, although I kinda tried to get a bit of a floorshow going dancing with Naomi on ...

We're Comin' Home!

... Guatemala and its people. Our departure from Antigua, for so long a concept, a distant point on the horizon, sneaked up on us and suddenly we were traveling again. In San Cristobal we lounged in the shady zocalo, wandered through the quiet colonial calles and learned a bit about the fascinating history of the Chiapas region. In Palenque we hung out in the jungle and explored sacred Mayan ruins. In Tulum we partied on the beach and dived in a ...

One of the crooks masquerading as law enforcement said, "Everything." Collectively, the trio had about US$30 and forked it over, which made the ...

The Wedding Week

... my weak stomach..surprisingly, I wasn't ill at all! And just when we thought the tour was done, we were taken to Coba to see some Mayan ruins..I think all of us would've been content to have ended the tour after lunch but nevertheless we biked (ok, Chris & I took a Mayan taxi-bike) to the ruins from the entrance, climbed it, took our obligatory pictures and then gratefully went to the bus for the ride home. It was a long day, but WELL WORTH the $99 USD. Cherie ...
