Just when we thought Venice was the most beautiful place we would visit in Italy, Varenna may have beaten it into second place. Neither of us can get our heads round the fact that we are actually seeing what's around us. The apartment is amazing and the views from the balcony alone are worth the trip. Claire has also befriended a blind cat so we keep having to think of excuses to go and see the lady so Claire can rub the cat.

... turned into two hours, as we started down, down, down (much easier than climbing). Back to the town of Bellagio with its narrow streets and “Salitas” – which are stairs built into the hillside, lines with shops and restaurants to get you from the lakeside to the center of town. There are at least eight of the Salitas – we actually came DOWN Salita Serbelloni (do you see a pattern here with the ...

... home to a lovely castle up on a hill. However the 3 of us were feeling rather pooped and were quite happy to just sit at a local cafe and have some coffee. Ha! Poor unexplored Varena! We headed back to our little Hotel in Cadenabbia and everyone came up to our room where we shared wine, cheese, bread and salami, and of course enjoyed the magnificent expansive views! While our stay in Lake Como was brief, we certainly enjoyed it and would return in a ...

... I do my videoclip in front of a dramatic monument of a naked woman being carried off on a horse, dedicated to the "Soldiers of all the Wars"... a common way for Italy to honor its fallen without having to explain if they were fighting on the "right" side or the "wrong" side... And with that, I head to the train station, climb aboard the train, and rest my weary legs. Goodbye, Alps. Goodbye beautiful part of the world where culture and natural beauty blend so ...
