So, we drove north and are now in Tuscany. We stopped at Orvieto, which is an Italian Hill Town. There are many hill towns in Tuscany and Umbria, particularly the former. They were built during the middle ages as defensive structures due to the constant small time warfare and raiding. So, this massive Roman Empire is reduced to sibling squabbling. Noel and I were invited to Il Fontanaro winery and Olive Grove. It's a beautiful farm overlooking a valley in Paciano, next door village to Panicale. We were looking forward to experiencing such a local traditional event ,and I was secretly really excited , as they have 2 beautiful chocolate Labradors that I could play with.
... or wi-fi - so they are limited. But the Italians - they just sit and enjoy each other's company and aren't distracted by their phones. It is so refreshing. Even if they aren't talking much - they just sit in silence and sip their wine - all cool and Italian-like. Oh, it's going to be hard to leave Tuscany!
