... about the knights of Malta. We learned a lot. The knights are of the Order of St. John. They still exist. The Grand Inquisitor lived here. Most buildings here are because of their efforts. This place has been under siege so many times the people are almost apathetic. They are beautiful people, swarthy but refined. They speak Maltese, and Italian, and French and English. A bit of everything. They ...
Valletta, Island of Malta, Malta beanblossomI've just popped over to Malta for a day & a bit (as you do!) to say a quick hello / goodbye to my parents (and bring them lots of goodies over for the last time in a while).
The weather is a little warmer than the UK, but not as warm as it's going to be in a week's time (ha ha ha).
Anyway, I'll keep this blog short so ciao for now!

... Again it had the most amazing city walls, a well preserved Gothic church and a magnificent Cathedral. Ryan’s neck was quite sore here so we decided to indulge and take a horse and cart ride around all the old cobble streets of the city, in every city since, when we see a horse and cart, Ryan declares he has a sore neck!!!!!! We so understand why many of the British population choose this distination as a holiday destination.

... group. But it doesn’t help because I still can’t make out what she’s saying beneath her slushy pronunciation. After we walk out the cathedral we continue down a long street with shops, past street vendors, and then turn a sharp corner into a narrow sidewalk that leads to an outdoor seating area ringed with restaurants. Then we realize that Juma is missing. It is 1:45pm and I’m worried by 2:30pm the boat will ...
Valletta, Island of Malta, Malta hiwhthi... and beautiful flowering heathers on the clifftops. We took a walk around the headland and then climbed out onto a rock protruding into the sea, time to take in a deep breath, relax and embrace the surroundings. We sat in silence and I became hypnotised watching as two different currents entwined in a swirl in the sea and came crashing up against the rock we sat on. I don't really know where time goes in these circumstances; an hour seems like 5 minutes as time care ...
Xlendi, Island of Gozo, Malta travelmonster... He unlocked the church allowed us inside and presented us all with prayer cards when we left. (He then left in an ancient car, that wheezed and puffed its way down the hill.) Anther prominent church in the community is "Our Lady of Loredo", the parish church of Ghajnsielem. It was closed too, but it was right next door to the site of Bethlehem, so we knew we would be back later. Reviewing some tourist information boards, Mark noted that there were some neolithic ...
Gozo, Malta mshulist... the sights are breathtaking, the relationships as well as the time i spend alone exploring and relaxing(more now because of my lack of computer) is the best. I couldnt ask for a better balance of people around me. The women are beautiful and fun to dance with(i love you baby ;-)!), The guys are like best friends - always ready to explore and be there for you, the professors are open and friendly, my roommate is smart and really balanced kid.... Its like a dream come true ...
Lija, Malta jkosmides... Valletta their centre of activity. Now, the stunning city was occupied by day-trippers such as myself, coming to soak up the atmosphere of the quiet streets and history. As soon as I passed beneath the main gate I could feel something special in Mdina. The ancient walled capital wasn't given the name 'The Silent City' for nothing, and as soon as I turned off from 'Pjazza San Publiju,' just inside the main gate, I found myself in a quaint small street with nobody ...
Mdina, Malta will... devised a fun but pointless strategy of slicing them up with their knives. We made it through unscathed but I was left wondering if the severed tentacles can grow heads and therefore multiply... We passed a hilltop Jesus with arms outspread that reminded me a little of the big guy in Rio that hopefully I'll get to see one day. Everyone round here ...
Gozo, Malta technotrekker... equalize. Through an underwater arch, we swim all the way around the base of the Window. Fish swim up and down the rock face like a giant escalator. Tiny jelly fish bob and wave. Surrounded by blue and green and grey. I'm so enthralled that I have to remember to keep breathing and not hold my breathe. The weight of water is heavy and disorienting, but it's magical and cool. I am awkward and graceful as is this aquatic life. Thank you Sebastian and St Andrews Dive Centre!
