... as a friend told me (and I wholeheartedly agree), everything is complementary. And this goes for everything in life, not just yoga, the more different styles and philosophies you learn, the more you can pull it all together and make it your own style, your own philosophy. Knowledge is power. But also, an ounce of practice is worth a ton of theory. You have to put it into practice and experience otherwise those silly conceptual ideas don't help you one bit!
