... to me on this holiday.......,

Finally bumped into the 2 ladies that I had shared a car with. Considering how small Mcleod Ganj is and how many other people I saw again it was surprising it had taken this long to bump into them. We then found out that we had been sitting probably 20 metres from each other at the Dali Lama teaching but didn't see each other. I really was chilled out after a few days in Mcleod Ganj!!

Had ...
Dharamsala, Himachal Pradesh, India carole91... this beautiful little gompa lies at the bottom of a steep track which leads off the laneway past the Om Guest House. The main prayer hall houses an image of Shakyamuni, as well as two enormous drums covered in goat skin and painted around the rim, which were made by monks at the gompa. Also here are some superb butter sculptures, which are made during Loser. Fine and detailed sand mandalas are also made here.

Library of Tibetan Works & Archives<br ...
Dharamshala-Mcleodganj, Himāchal Pradesh, India valleyviewcrest... interesting stories about previous volunteers. It started raining soon after orientation began and Mike saved me from taking a tumble in the mud. I am sleepy and I need to clean some pants and read about my placement, but I will get more bloggy tomorrow!
Dharamsala, Himachal Pradesh, India mmessina23... was making progress, but had many moments filled with feelings of fear, panic, lostness, and frustration. He kept on working his way down the mountain side, when he finally made it to a larger path and a small village where he met a villager who led him in the right direction down into the valley. Jon actually got lost again, but found his way and made it down in to a village a bit lower than McLeodGanj. He then had to hike his way back up to town, where he ...
Dharamsala, Himachal Pradesh, India monsoon-music... much it is truly hard to comprehend. The house is very small, it has two rooms which are combined smaller than my bedroom back home. One room is the kitchen, sewing room and the fathers bedroom. and the other is where the mother, the baby, and myself eat, sleep, watch TV, and socialize. Is there a bathroom? Don't be silly, no. Down the hall there is an Indian toilet, aka a hole in the ground with plastic around it. For a shower there is another room the ...
Dharamsala, Himachal Pradesh, India k0e0n0z... a beautiful meadow with wild cows and a stream running threw it. The staff taught us how to play Cricket and we had many water fights. Anil and G2, the two head managers of the CCS Dharamsala program, dunked me in the stream and I got completely soaked! It was so much fun! All the volunteers really bonded at the picnic today. We just are one big family here. Today was the first day I felt like I was home and with people I felt comfortable and happy with. We all just had a ...
Dharamsala, Himachal Pradesh, India face... ultimately the one we chose, was to hire a taxi and driver and split the cost with 2 other people...for a 14 hour drive in the privacy and security of our own car cost us each about $27. We found an Israeli couple willing to leave Rishikesh a day early and we were off! 6:30 AM we loaded our bags into a small but clean car (Indian make...definitely not built for the mountains but very popular non the less) and ...
Dharamsala, India laurinaway... for local standards (about 11pm). We needed some water but couldn't find the guy who runs the guest house. However, we noticed a small cupboard under the stairs beside our room with a notice on reading 'MINERAL WATER AND TOILET ROLL AVAILABLE HERE!'. 'Oh how helpful!' We thought and Hugh opened the cupboard. Out bounded a very energetic, quite large dog. We then spent a while trying to convince the dog a) not to jump at us b) not to play with our feet and c) to get back in ...
