Monkey Forest Road Ubud, Bali, Indonesia, (62-361)-975-690
We went to the main Bali Airport (Denpasar) to say our goodbyes to our friend Richard. It had been an awesome month of travels together through the deepest parts of Cambodia and then Indonesia (Bali & Komodo) with a "prechish and comricated pran" to get to some of the best and wildest diving we have ever done. Mission well and truly accomplished. The Indonesian part of the trip had not been in our travel plans but it is one we would gladly come back to as it is an amazing place for many d...
Ubud, Bali, Indonesia kingsandems YO!
So.... its been a few days, eh? We've been super busy (believe it or not), so we haven't been able to write. We are safe and everything is good though, and we are now presently in an island off Lombok called Gili Trawangan. Its farking awesome here. However, I'll dedicate another blog in a few days to this place (with pics)... for now, I'd like to talk about the last place we were - Ubud, Bali. Unlike Kuta Bali, Ubud is a place where people go NOT for the drugs, raving, and non-sto...
... a group of seasoned looking travellers in their light, comfy looking, yet suitably odd baggy trousers. They were sitting round a low table with crossed legs discussing what seemed to be very profound notions as they all looked at each other with great intensity, hanging on each others every word and nodding in agreement. In between converstaions some would stop and mediatate, while others attempted to talk to the local people. We were not afforded a second glance; it was ...
Ubud, Bali, Indonesia kateandlindsay... in his eyes, I let out a little scream and threw another banana his way. We quickly made our way down the path, hoping to encounter sweet, cuddly monkeys. Soon, a cute pint-sized one scurried over and I fed him. Soon, another monkey was crawling up my leg. I quickly forked over another banana and he went away. Next, a monkey jettisoned off the ground and stradled my sotomach, crawling up my body to reach the bananas. At this point we were laughing hysterically. However, I turned ...
Ubud, Bali, Indonesia seasiabound... eating his food, which was very strange, and saying that he wanted his mother I thought something was very wrong. I went over to give him a hug and he was literally as hot as an oven. Being raised in a family of doctors, I knew that having a fever in the tropics was a very bad sign so I rushed Michael to our villa, gave him some Tylenol and sent him to bed. After around two hours the fever persisted so I knew I had to go call my mom. The only problem was that I had to call her from an ...
Ubud, Bali, Indonesia izunia... waterfalls. Not too fun climbing back out though. Had a chat with the 5 year olds selling bracelets, cute kids. Lovina was next. Famous for its Black volcanic beaches & dolphins. Lovely place, would definitely stay here if I come back to Bali. Stopped off at a local place for some grub. Finally is Tennah Lot. What a place!! A temple sits atop an enormous boulder in the sea. There was a religious event on so there was hundreds of people with offerings to ...
Kuta, Indonesia newmansinasia... the Blue Lagoon for snorkeling until the camera battery died and we were ready for lunch. On the third day of snorkeling, I put one of our Therm-A-Rest inflatable mats on a dead cactus that was mixed in the sand of the beach. We didn't notice the problem until it was too late and now the mat has many holes in it and no longer holds air. It still has the memory foam to provide a little bit of softness though, which makes it slightly better than a beach towel when we ...
Padangbai, Bali, Indonesia aaronpolarbear... the likes of me, but once again I felt I shouldn't be there, and this feeling was only exacerbated during my afternoon walk. Despite checking the way with a few people, I ended up with a similar situationas on Friday, only this time I missed the path from the start! I wandered down and around the individual rice fields and after I had walked too far, it was soon obvious that this was no real path, just one created by the farmers! I sat for a break and ate a banana muffin ...
Ubud, Bali, Indonesia becpowell... water coming down was incredible and caused a massive spray - very cool. We also went to an even bigger tree and I climbed through it. It is something of a Hindu sacred place, it had a little temple outside too. Next up was Lovina, another beach resort on the north coast. No waves but really peaceful. The place we stayed in had Monitor lizards living in the river amongst the bungalows so I turned into the David Attenborough of the place and tried to catch them ...
Bali, Indonesia chris.sandra08... army'. Following Japan's Pacific surrender in August 1945, the Dutch promptly returned to Indonesia, including Bali, immediately to reinstate their pre-war colonial administration. This was resisted by the Balinese rebels now using Japanese weapons. On 20 November 1946, the Battle of Marga was fought in Tabanan in central Bali. Colonel I Gusti Ngurah Rai, 29 years old, finally rallied his forces in east Bali at Marga Rana, where they made ...
