... walking and crossed the pedestrian bridge into Poland where we tried to work out the conversion of the Polish currency into Aussie dollars, then into Euros. Prices seem quite cheap as we'd heard. Might have to do a bit more shopping! Was quite a long walk back to the hotel and as usual we were pooped. We appreciated a rest and I enjoyed a Radler beer, mmmm could get quite used to these.

Later dinner at a nearby burger specialty bar - was good!

... that was used in the Oscar winning movie The Grand Budapest Hotel, which was formerly a department store in the day and is now being renovated like so many other old buildings in this city. Spectacular!
Even though we struck out on genealogy we discovered a most beautiful intact medieval town, undamaged by the war.
A town to be remember and returned to. ...

... we purchased a couple of tickets (660 CKr) and then headed back down into town to find somewhere for an early dinner. Thanks to the suggestion from Sue & Ron, we went looking for the Lennon Wall and just around the corner was a great place to get an early dinner. We had been told that their specialty was soup served in a cob loaf, but the Soup of the Day was Cabbage Soup and there was no way Nick was going to eat Cabbage Soup, so we settled for ...

Only update were I'm now.
Cut my day a bit short yesterday, because of bad weather. Stopped just short of Goerliz.
120 km, through wet and slippery bikeways, crossing the "Saxon Schweiz", very challenging!

Onwards and upwards to the top, where there are extensive ruins of a monastery and castle built in 1366. It is a ruin, having been destroyed by lightning in the 1500s but several areas are in very good repair, eg the priest’s rooms, the tower and the mortuary .
