... the euro. I can't blame them really. From what i could gather, Poland was becoming more and more expensive, yet wages hadn't kept pace. It was a similar story in most of eastern Europe. The barbecue Anita's uncle put on that afternoon was by far the best meal I have had in years. It was just barbied bits of flesh, but the meat was so tender and delicious. Something hard to find back in London.

Jelenia Góra ('deer mountain') is about couple of hours south from Wroclaw (trains or buses). It is close to the Karkonosze mountain range running along the Polish-Czech border. Only 10-15 km of the town there are few ski resorts such as Karpacz, Szklarska Poreba.
Nice, colorful Market Square, Cyprian Kamil Norwid Theatre, Saint Cross Church, the Old Town are just few places worth of seeing.

... the week was fairly chilled out we could have headed straight to Warsaw over the next few days to visit my family in Poland but they suggested to come the week after when there was a birthday party on, so it would be easier to catch up with everyone in one go. This meant we had quite a bit of time to spend in the region and our plan was just to take our time in Czech and maybe go to south Poland before we headed north to Warsaw.

al the former eastern bloc countries make for good travel,, but the one that i return to is the czech republic,, mainly to the north [north bohemia],liberec,harrochov,cesky raj, but a trip or two to moravia is also worth taking,,. during the communist times it was an eye opener, now also as the people wish for the return of those times,they knew where their bread was coming from, and the upgrades fron old skoda to super fast motorcars,, ah they stilll are crazy on the roads

Liberec ma krasny architekturu z cias ked to bolo druhe najvyznamnejsie mesto v Cechach. Jeho odevnicky a tkacsky priemysel je preslaveny v celom byvalom Ceskoslovensku.

... I could make a wrong first impression. But I am a very sensitive and warm-hearted person. Although both of us have enough of seeing each other for now, I have this impression things have "clicked" in between us. And if there is no "click" in between people, it`s hard to build up a friendship, or even, as my friend would say, a "rough friendship". The time will show whether we will be able to continue our relationship.

I'd love to make it back to these parts some day, and do the seven hour hike from Mt Sniezka to Mt Szrenica, at the western end of the park near the town of Szklarska Poreba. Unfortunately, that wouldn't be happening for a while as I only had another 6 weeks left in Poland before I was to fly to Scotland to begin a position at a summer school. Nevertheless, it was a great opportunity to see a part of the country I'd never seen.

... to pay more attention to the map! The first 8km of the walk wasn't too difficult, even if I was still trudging through snow. The problem came when I reached the mountain, with an ascent of 300m over 300m horizontal distance (as the crow flies). This took the form of about another 2.5km of rather painful, steep switchbacks.
