... I wasn't that keen to go inside a grotto. But in we went, all ohhhing and ahhing. It was pretty spectacular inside, a cave inside a cave. Expected to see Johnny Depp or his dad, sorely disappointed on that score. It is very "piratey" around these parts and apparently there is a strong, and long, history of piracy in the region. Hence my expectation. From the boat tour we we went walking through the citadel and ...

... what they were eating, what did it sound like??? We had plenty of space to wander around and be amazed by this place, only a few other people there and no tour groups. From there we drove on only short distance to the ferry terminal. What a beautiful place. The harbour is a quite narrow entrance between great rocky granite cliffs. Our next stop is for 3.5 weeks in St Remy de Provence. Hoping the sunny weather stays around for a few more weeks for ...

... top of the peninsula to a place called Baja Sardinia. Beautiful, just like every other place - but truly the provence of the rich and possibly famous. Roped off sections of beach, sun lounges for hire, the usual signs of exclusiveness!! But there are no high rises and the "resorty" stuff is small and only around small coves, it doesn't dominate the whole area, say like Surfers. This little part of Sardinia has been ...

... great seafood restaurant today - then to a lovely little beach for some relaxing and sun. I love that we have (so far) done three completely different things on this holiday. Lake Como was gorgeous - all beautiful BIG mountains, lakes, ferries and little villages, Tuscany, well, Tuscan, great food, picture postcard views, great wine, history..., and now Sardinia, different again, rugged mountains, beautiful azure blue ...
