This zoo is sooo big, you can't get the benefit of it all in one day. I will have to come back to San Diego to see the rest. Hint Hint.
I liked the gorillas best. There was one 45 years old. I felt sorry for him. He lost his harem,, because he was too old. But in his retirement, he got to just lay around. sex isn't everything.
I guess.

... sign of our driver. Luckily after about 30 minutes of waiting he showed up much to our relief. Apparently it took him a lot longer to get through the border then it did for us.

We drove the final 30 minutes to San Diego where we were dropped at our accomodation USA Hostels. Supposedly voted #2 in USA. We were very happy to have reached our accomodation by this stage as it was 7pm and we had been travelling for 10 hours. Our room is teeny ...

... Anecdotal stories about our lad.
Then dancing outside. First time I'd danced with Ben so It was special. Jamie and her Dad managed a good number too.
The DJ they had hired did a good job, and I reckon the highlight was when they requested "the voice' by John Farnham. We all went a bit mental lol The Americans looked on as if we were nuts but soon joined in

Finally got to bed just after midnight, exhausted. ...

... the beach boxes looked familiar, but that was not a surprise as they have been featured in so many movies and TV series.

One of the interesting things was the Police car, well Police Ute with roof racks and Surfboard. Seems a good job for some in Santa Monica.

After the wander around the pier, it was into the car, address loaded into the GPS and we were off on our first US road ...

... squat right beside the glass to avoid the splash - but they couldn't avoid the big wave of water that came over the top and drenched them...hilarious! Over to see the sea lions - you could buy sardines to feed them...and as soon as they saw you had fish they'd start honking.  One in particular would just sit on his rock and be so loud he got fish every time.  Some of the others you could drop the fish down as they'd come right to the ...
