Found Charlie's recommended resturant - Bahia Don Bravo in Birdrock, La Jolla. Had a potato rolled taco, as they call it here "street taco".
Made our way on the night bus from San Diego to Flagstaff with a stop over in Los Angleles and Las Vegas. Travelled through California, Nevada and into Arizona!!

As far as zoo's go though, my opinion is that Taronga is far better. San Diego is an old style of zoo with the majority of the animals behind cages and wire, unlike Taronga with the more open exhibits. BTW Maddy saw a squirrel running around so she was happy. Think it must have been on her "to do" list.
