    Day 9 – Santorini



    Yet another beautiful sunny day, fortunately, not too hot. The ship is moored in the 300 metre deep caldera created 4000 years ago when the original island exploded and saw the end of the Minoan civilization and leading to the legend of Atlantis, or so the theory goes.

    ... heard what we were listening for. Karen broke the silence,

    "Yes! Girls! I'm gonna go make friends!"

    I responded,

    "Yes! Girls! I'm gonna go make friends!"

    And just like that, we had new Santorini friends Bhavan and Brittany from Vancouver. We chatted for a bit by the pool(!!!) in the courtyard outside our rooms and decided to head up to Oia at the north of the island for sunset.

    ... other than the location was lunch at Mama's Restaurant. Mama greeted us and was the life of the room which was busy with guests from Europe, China and Dubai around us. When she took our order, she asked mom: "So, what'll it be blondie?" Ha! The quality of the home cooking was dynamite good.

    We're a bit bagged tonight so after a good soaker tub, it's off to the sack. ...

    ... which was brilliant. We had our room so cold that we needed our sleeping bags to sleep in the evening and it was freezing getting out of the shower. But it was sooo hot outside that it was just brilliant when we came inside. We had a tv and surprisingly enough there was an American channel that showed movies at night, and some series – gossip girl, monk etc in the afternoons, which was great when we had a siesta.

    ... Hostel. Paul ducked his head in, didn’t see anyone and declared it perfect for lunch. We went in, sat on a rooftop bar area and dug into our lunch.
