HAPPY NEW YEAR - WELCOME 2014!!

We left the beautiful cabin in Pine Forest on New Years day and headed home via the quirky little Bavarian themed town - Leavenworth. To escape the FREEZING cold we found refuge in a Bavarian café for lunch to enjoy warm cider, schnitzel, sausage and sauerkraut. Delicious!

A quick stop to purchase a Pork Knuckle and some chocolate coated pretzels and then back on the road - Seattle bound.

Intro to Leavenworth

Bavaria..Well a gumbo of Bavarians, Russians, the Hippest Folk, Apple/Pear/Cherry Farmers, the sheerest Snow Creek Wall, cougars, and the intersection of sandstone and granite blasting up towards the sun through the clouds that rest in the needles of the pines and douglas firs. It was a wonderful day of extremes. We got on the road at 6:00 just after sunrise to a brisk 46 degrees or the trip north on 97, the "Oregon Scenic Byway." Along the way the snow-shrouded Cascade range showed off it's stately elegance: Bachelor, the Sisters, Jefferson, and Mt. Hood kept us company along the way.
