... the final drag down the coast road to Tynemouth to take in the Priory and the statue to local naval hero, Collingwood. And so, with a few clicks of the camera this trip around Scotland and Northern England was pretty much done. All that remained was to have dinner - tonight we chose salmon and champagne (the only way to end a trip like this). ... many cousins etc together. Consequently we had a fabulous afternoon at Dorothy's , with cousins Dorothy, Sue and Bob, Lesley and Jennifer. Some of their children, Andrea,Jonathon and Glyn and Dorothy's grandchild Rowan. Obviously Andrea met all of them for the first time and felt very welcomed into the family. ... copious amounts of enthusiasm. Following the lighthouse and the local chocolate ice-cream that we bought there, we next headed West to see Hadrian's wall, or the few bricks that remain. Whilst I'm not really interested in the Romans and the hundreds of pot fragments we now have to stare at in museums; it's quite impressive to think that a 3ft deep wall was built along the top of England purely to keep the Scot's out!
